Around 1834, the Elizabethtown Inn is one of the oldest structures in Bladen County, North Carolina. Originally the home of Colonel John McDowell, the house reportedly served as a hospital during the Civil War.
The house is in the Greek Revival style of architecture and has been called home by half a dozen families over the years. Several renovations and additions have been made since the house was initially constructed. In the late 1930s, the house was moved a couple of hundred yards from its original site, just east of the current location. In 2015, renovations began to create the Inn.
The Inn's new owner is Christine Marais, who purchased the house in 2018.
Christine is originally from South Africa and welcomes you with a combination of Southern hospitality and international flair!
The Inn combines the historic charm of a bed and breakfast inn with the privacy and amenities of a small boutique hotel. They work to ensure your stay will be relaxing and memorable. In addition to lodging, the Inn can accommodate meetings and receptions.

Lu Mil Vineyard sits on the family farm site of the late Lucille and Miller Taylor, on Suggs-Taylor Rd, in Dublin, NC. The Taylor family has been a leader in agricultural equipment development for many years; the family farm site has served as a testing ground for their innovative creations. As a way to test their ideas for new machinery for the growing viticulture industry, their muscadine vineyard was born.
The vineyard has grown to over 78 acres, and the first estate wines were made from Lu Mil's Vineyards in 2005, and the vineyard's Gift Shop and Tasting Room officially opened to the public. Lu Mil Vineyard offers muscadine wines such as Old Cumberland, Taylor Divine, Bladen Blush, Harmony Hall, Cape Owen Red, Sir Walter Raleigh, Red Sangria, White Sangria, and Merry Christmas. There is a limited production of seasonal wines. Jellies, jams, alcohol-free wines, juices, ciders, sauces, syrup, and grape seed extract pills have been produced from Lu Mil's vines.
The Vineyard Cabins have spectacular views of the expansive vineyard and beautiful lake. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Lu Mil and indulge yourself with an afternoon on Doc's Deck.
