MARCH 2024
COMMUNITY BUILDING UPDATE
During the March Town Council Meeting, Assistant Town Manager Pat DeVane gave an update on the status of the Community Building on MLK Drive.
Last year, the Town held a groundbreaking ceremony to announce that we were awarded a $2,575,000 CDBG–NR grant for design and construction from NC Dept. of Commerce, Rural Development Division. In January of this year, we received the required environmental clearances and permits. This clears us to move into the construction phase.
Last month, a Request for Qualification (RFQ) for Design and Construction was announced with a deadline of March 22, 2024. Bid materials can be found here: https://elizabethtownnc.org/how-do-i/submit-a-bid
On February 22, the Advisory Board held its first meeting to discuss:
– Vision, Mission, and Purpose of the Community Center
– Possible uses of the building
– Methods of raising revenue to keep the lights on and bills paid, such as: user fees, programming charges and rental costs.
You can expect a community meeting in the near future. In the meantime, click here for the Community Center Update
OTHER ACTIONS AT TOWN COUNCIL MEETING
