PUBLIC HEARING
PROPOSED MORATORIUM ON DEVELOPMENT
APPROVALS FOR DATA CENTERS
The Town Council will hold a public hearing on June 15, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at the Elizabethtown Town Hall, 805 West Broad Street, Elizabethtown, N.C., to consider adoption of a temporary moratorium on the acceptance, processing, and approval of development applications for data centers pursuant to G.S. 160D‑107.
The moratorium would pause new permits, rezonings, site plans, and related approvals for data centers for one (1) year to allow the Town to evaluate infrastructure capacity, land‑use impacts, and regulatory needs.
All interested persons may attend and be heard. The draft ordinance is available at Elizabethtown Town Hall, 805 West Broad Street, and posted to the Town’s website – www.elizabethtownnc.org
